Dr. Josie Volden

Dr. Volden grew up in Wisconsin, but her academic journey started with her undergraduate studies at Winona State University before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a degree in Zoology. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, graduating from veterinary school. You might recognize her face, because she also did her externship right here at Brook-Falls.

Josie’s inspiration to work with animals was not sparked by a single event but rather a lifelong affinity for them. Volunteering at the humane society in Winona during her undergraduate years was a defining moment that solidified her dedication to veterinary medicine. The experience, initially a way to cope with missing her own pets, ignited her passion for wanting to do more for animal care.

In her professional life, Josie finds joy in understanding the unique personalities of the animals she cares for. The reward of incorporating these insights into her work motivates her to go above and beyond in providing quality care. Josie is driven by a deep respect for the diversity of animal life and the profound bond between humans and animals.

Although Josie does not currently have any pets, she fondly remembers her late Labrador, Lola, who was known for her boundless energy and love for fetch. Josie looks forward to adopting more pets in the future.

She credits her immediate family for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout her educational and professional journey. In her downtime, Josie enjoys reading, watching movies, swimming, and cooking or baking, which help her relax and recharge.

Dr. Josie Volden’s commitment to animal care and her continuous pursuit of excellence make her a dedicated and compassionate veterinary professional, inspired by her lifelong love for animals and supported by a strong family foundation.
