Beating the Heat: Keeping Your Pet Cool & Safe This Summer

Summer fun is in full swing, but rising temps can be dangerous for our furry companions. Dogs and cats don’t sweat the way we do, which makes them more vulnerable to overheating, dehydration, and even heatstroke.

At Brook-Falls, we want your pet to stay safe, happy, and cool all summer long. Here’s how to help them beat the heat—and how we can help, too!

☀️ Hot Weather Safety Tips for Pets

1. Limit Outdoor Time
Avoid walks or vigorous play during the hottest parts of the day, which is usually between 11 AM and 4 PM. Early morning or late evening is best!

2. Always Provide Fresh Water & Shade
Make sure your pet has constant access to clean, cool water and a shady spot to rest.

3. Watch for Signs of Overheating
Symptoms include heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. If you notice any of these, get your pet into a cool area and contact us immediately.

4. Never Leave Pets in Parked Cars
Even with windows cracked, the temperature inside a car can skyrocket in minutes. It’s not worth the risk.

5. Protect Their Paws
Pavement and sand can get hot enough to burn paw pads. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
