Dr. Rachel Harris

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Rachel Harris grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and discovered her passion for veterinary medicine while working as a veterinary assistant after earning her biology degree from Western Kentucky University. Inspired by that hands-on experience, she went on to pursue her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri.

From the very beginning of her career, Dr. Harris has had a deep interest in exotic pets—particularly small mammals—and has always been drawn to their unique medical needs. She is continually inspired by the dedication and care exotic pet owners provide and is passionate about supporting and educating them through every stage of their pets’ lives.

Her clinical interests include geriatric medicine and pain management across all species, along with soft tissue surgery and dental procedures. She also has a special love for feline medicine and enjoys the challenges and rewards that come with treating cats. Over the years, she has shared her home with various small mammals, including rats and guinea pigs, giving her a personal understanding of the special bond between humans and these often-overlooked pets.

Dr. Harris lives in Waukesha with her husband, their daughter, a spirited pug who enjoys daycare at Brook-Falls, and a cat who decidedly prefers to stay home. Outside of work, she loves spending time outdoors with her family, reading, and staying up to date on pop culture.
