Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care would like to welcome 4th-year extern Mitch Thomas.
Mitch is currently finishing his fourth year of veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.
Mitch grew up in New Berlin and spent most of his free time caring for his many pets and watching nature documentaries.
His passion for wildlife and conservation led him to Belize where he volunteered for four summers during college at a wildlife rehabilitation center specializing in manatees and primates.
While in Belize, Mitch had the opportunity to work hands-on with orphaned howler and spider monkeys along with injured manatees; he learned a lot about the rehabilitation process and human-wildlife interactions.
During veterinary school, Mitch developed interests in primary care, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, and special species medicine. However, his favorite part of his clinical year was interacting with clients, observing the bonds they had with their pets, and learning how to best be a resource for them.
Mitch gained some wildlife and zoo medicine experience with externships at the Milwaukee County Zoo and SeaWorld Orlando. He is excited to gain more experience in companion and exotic animal medicine at Brook-Falls!
Outside of school Mitch enjoys being outside, spending time at the gym, and obsessing over his dog, River (the most perfect dog in the world).
