Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care would like to welcome 4th-year extern Stephanie Kurth.
Stephanie is currently a 4th-year veterinary medical student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and came to Brook-Falls from February 2nd through February 16th, 2019 for an externship.
Originally from Waukesha, WI, Steph went to UW-Madison for her Bachelor of Science in wildlife ecology, which first sparked her love of special species medicine. Throughout her undergraduate and veterinary school years at UW-Madison Stephanie has been involved in several research projects working on topics such as sloth genetics, coyote and fox disease ecology, chronic wasting disease in deer and white-nose syndrome in bats, all of which have furthered her passion for this field.
Additionally, through these projects, Stephanie has grown to love public education and awareness of infectious diseases of special species that affect us.
After graduating Stephanie plans to work in private practice, ideally working with exotics and small animals, for several years while obtaining a Master’s degree, ultimately in the hopes of pursuing a career in wildlife health.
In her free time, she enjoys backpacking and hiking, ballroom dancing, playing soccer and reading. She currently lives with a curious Russian tortoise (Bullet), a crazy tabby cat (Zion), and a lazy, food-motivated Labrador mix (Sadie).
