Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital & Exotic Care would like to welcome 4th-year extern Cailey Vandermark.
Cailey will be joining Brook-Falls today, Monday, June 7th, and will be with us through June 20th, 2021.
Cailey is a fourth-year veterinary student at the University of Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University, where she majored in zoology and minored in chemistry. During her undergraduate education, Cailey spent her spare time working on a research project in the parasitology laboratory, teaching an undergraduate laboratory course, shadowing a local veterinary clinic, and playing an active leadership role in the school’s archery club. After graduating, she spent over two years as a veterinary technician at a busy animal hospital in the Chicago suburbs.
At the University of Illinois, Cailey was active for her first three years in the Wildlife Medical Clinic, helping treat and care for sick and injured local wildlife. She also spent time tutoring fellow veterinary students and gaining more experience at a veterinary emergency clinic. After graduation, she hopes to go into small animal and exotic general practice and emergency medicine.
Cailey has lived in several different states growing up, and she carries that love of travel and seeing new things with her to this day. For fun, she enjoys road trips, hiking, camping, rock climbing, and exploring new places, cultures, and foods with her husband and her 5-year-old mixed-breed dog, Clint.
