Dr. Meryl Schimek and Dr. Molly Kase traveled to Washington DC for the American Veterinary Medical Association’s annual convention. The AVMA Annual Convention draws veterinarians of all disciplines and experience levels, as well as emphasizes the role of veterinary medicine in public policy. From exploring new products and services to experiencing hands-on learning, interactive labs and so much more, Veterinarians acquired an abundance of education and information in the span of just five days through the events CE sessions.

The AVMA Annual Convention Topics

Education focused on feline chronic kidney disease management and ocular surgery refinement. Chronic kidney disease plagues many of our older feline patients and there was a discussion about new nutritional and medical management of the disease.

Dr. Schimek attended several lectures covering fish medicine – how to implement it into an existing practice as well as medical and surgical basics for our water-dwelling pets. She will be working to learn more about fish medicine to hopefully allow for expansion of our patient population!
