Brook-Falls would like to Welcome 4th year Vet Student Kayla Krager

Ever since she was a little girl, Kayla knew she was destined for a career working with animals, though, she could not decide exactly what career path she wanted to follow. She flipped and flopped between various professions from becoming a veterinarian to becoming a zoo keeper, an animal control officer, and even a teacher. It was not until her junior year of high school, when she was taking her AP Biology course, that she decided she wanted to become a veterinarian. She quickly realized her passion for science and animals as well as her joy of teaching and helping others could easily be filled by entering the veterinary profession. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin – Platteville where she pursed her scientific passion by majoring in Biology. It was at this point that she joined the Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club and began shadowing multiple veterinarians. After her first day shadowing at a veterinary emergency hospital, she knew she had chosen the right profession. The ability of the veterinarians to use their medical knowledge as well as their communications skills to effectively diagnose and treat critical patients greatly inspired her to further pursue her desire to become a veterinarian. Upon graduation from UW – Platteville, she started veterinary school at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine where she is currently a third-year veterinary student. Upon completion of her veterinary degree, Kayla hopes to specialize in Emergency and Critical Care medicine and eventually work in a practice where she can treat both traditional and exotic companion animals. She hopes that she will be able to use her medical knowledge and passion for helping others to assist both clients and their beloved pets through any medical emergencies they might face. She understands that these emergencies can be a difficult time for a pet’s family and hopes that she will be able to alleviate any fears they might have while providing the best medical care possible for their pet.
